Exhibit at “Kimono Time to Enjoy Crafts” at the Ishikawa Museum of Arts and Crafts

Kimono Time to Enjoy Crafts
A kimono is completed with various accessories such as obi (sash), obijime (sash belt), and haneri (half collar). Each of these items is handmade by craftsmen and artists, and also hairpins, wagasa umbrellas, obi ornaments, and other accessories add color and glamour to the kimono. The kimono is both a fashion and a craft.
This exhibition introduces a variety of crafts for enjoying kimonos, including Ushikubi tsumugi, Kaga yuzen, and Noto Kamifu, which are representative of Ishikawa Prefecture, as well as Kaga inlays, Kaga embroidery, braided cords, Wajima lacquerware, and wagasa umbrellas.
We hope that those who are familiar with kimonos will find something new in this exhibition, and those who are not familiar with kimonos will feel an “invitation to kimono”.
